BHSU Has 27 Earn DAC All-Scholar Recognition

Spearfish, S.D. – Black Hills State University had 27 student-athletes earn Dakota Athletic Conference All-Scholar recognition during the 2010 fall sports season.

“Our commitment to success is not limited to the court or the field of competition,” said Director of Athletics Jhett Albers.  “We take pride in the academic successes of the student-athletes also.”

During the fall of 2010, the student-athletes participating in football, volleyball, men’s cross country and women’s cross country were eligible to earn DAC All-Scholar.  The athletes earning this honor from Black Hills State are as follows:

Football: J.R. Barham (Rapid City, S.D.), Scott Boner (Douglas, Wyo.), Luke Janssen (Chadron, Neb.), Ryan Lee (Glenrock, Wyo.), Matthew Maidl (Shawnee, Wyo.), Michael Oberle (Vermillion, S.D.), Reed Reuman (Presho, S.D.), Trent Turbiville (Buffalo, S.D.), Dillon Whisman (Bailey, Colo.)

Volleyball: Kalin Engle (Newcastle, Wyo.), Alisyn Graesser (Dallas, S.D.), Kyla Johnson (Glendive, Mont.), Kylee Lamb (Onida, S.D.), Tori Lounsbery (Las Vegas, Nev.), Darbi Yost (Wheatland, Wyo.)

Women’s Cross Country: Abigail Bever (Cheyenne, Wyo.), Erin Curran (Wahoo, Neb.), Becca Ellis (Rock Rapids, Iowa), Erica Gajda (Cheyenne, Wyo.), Teresa Klarenbeek (Gary, S.D.), Leigh Anne Whiteside (Loveland, Colo.), Anna Yanchek (Cheyenne, Wyo.)

Men’s Cross Country: K.C. Fiedler (George, Iowa), Mitch Kraft (Wessington Springs, S.D.), Neil Long (Fort Collins, Colo.), Jed Morgan (Loveland, Colo.), Mark Wilcox (Yankton, S.D.)

Student-athletes who have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 or higher are named as a DAC scholar athlete for that semester.  Individual certificates are awarded to athletes who qualify and a recognition plaque is given to the DAC member institution with the highest percentage of athletes that qualify for the scholars program for the year.
