Spearfish, S.D. – Black Hills State University’s Head Men’s Basketball Coach Bradd Schafer announced today that they will be hosting their annual Basketball Night on Friday, June 1st, at the Dry Creek Bar and Grill in the Spearfish Canyon.

Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University men’s and women’s basketball programs announced today that they have cancelled the 3-on-3 basketball tournament that was scheduled for Saturday, April 28 at the Donald E. Young Center in Spearfish.

Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University Men’s Basketball program announced the signing of two more student-athletes in the late signing period. Chase Duben a senior from Ralston Valley High School in Colorado and Jake Ferrie a senior from Sioux Falls Christian will join the program beginning in the fall of 2012.

Black Hills State Names Sam Holden Men’s Assistant Basketball Coach
Spearfish, S.D. – Black Hills State University head men’s basketball coach, Bradd Schafer, announced today the hiring of Sam Holden as the men’s assistant basketball coach. Formerly a graduate assistant for the Yellow Jackets, Holden will take the reins in his new position effective immediately.

Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University men’s basketball team finished their 2011-2012 campaign on a positive note as they defeated the Minot State Beavers by a score of 79-69 in the Consolation Championship of the NCAA Transitional Tournament, led by senior Rob Johnson who finished his career with a 21 point effort.

The first day of action came to a close as Lindenwood defeat Minot by a score of 65-54 and Sioux Falls defeated S.D. School of Mines 77-63.

Oceanside, Calif. – The Black Hills State University men’s basketball team played their final game of the 2011-2012 regular season, Saturday evening as they fell to Cal State San Marcos 81-73. The Yellow Jackets were led by senior Rob Johnson who netted 20 points.

Black Hills State University Men’s Basketball Falls to Chapman
Orange, Calif. - The Black Hills State University men’s basketball team fell to Chapman University in Orange, Calif. by the score of 67-70 to fall to 10-15 on the season despite shooting 51% from the floor. the Yellow Jackets had chance to tie the game with less than 5 seconds remaining when freshman Brody Brisk was fouled on a three-point attempt, but he made just one of his three shots and Chapman preserved the victory.

Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University men’s basketball team finished their last regular season home game with a bang against Dakota State. The Yellow Jackets trailed early in the game but were able to fight their way back in the second half as they picked up the thrilling 74-72 win in double overtime on Senior Night.

Spearfish, SD – Black Hills State University men’s basketball senior Rob Johnson was named the Independent Collegiate Athletic Association (ICAA) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his efforts over the past week against S.D. Mines, Northern New Mexico and Johnson & Wales. Johnson helped the Yellow Jackets go 3-0 on the week.

The Yellow Jackets split on the weekend as they fell to Dickinson State 71-66 on Friday evening but bounced back against Rocky Mountain, junior Tommy Earl led the charge for Black Hills State shooting 64% from the field, 60% from behind the arc and 77% from the free throw line, Earl finished with a game high 28 points. Senior Rob Johnson had a solid performance for the Yellow Jackets, he finished 15-15 from the free throw line and added 21 points in the Black Hills State win.
