No. 22 Regis Clips Volleyball
Denver, Colo. – The Black Hills State University volleyball team was defeated 3-0 by Regis on Tuesday night in Denver, Colo.
In the first set, the Yellow Jackets were able to challenge Regis with a strong front row attack that saw Caitlin Templeton score four of Black Hills State's first nine points. However, Black Hills State could not stop the Regis attack and the Rangers would score six straight points to go up 19-11. Regis would go on to win the first set by a score of 25-18.
The Yellow Jackets once again challenged Regis early in the second set battling to a 10-10 tie before the Rangers went on a 5-0 scoring run. The Rangers would build their largest lead of the set at 22-14 following another 5-0 run. Black Hills State would fall in the second set 25-17.
Fatigue from four matches in four days caught up with Black Hills State in the final set of the match. The Yellow Jackets could not stop a 17-5 run by Regis and fell in the final set 25-12.
The Yellow Jackets were led offensively by Caitlin Templeton and Kylee Lamb. Both Templeton and Lamb tallied six kills in the match. Kelsey Olson came up with 11 digs in the match. Alisyn Graesser added three service aces for the Yellow Jackets.
Black Hills State is now 3-12 on the season. The Yellow Jackets will return to action on October 1 for two matches at the S.D. School of Mines Tournament. Black Hills State will face Sioux Falls at 12 noon and host school S.D. School of Mines at 2 p.m.
