Black Hills State men's and women's cross country had 12 Yellow Jackets compete at the NCAA DII South Central Regional Championships on Saturday morning. Both teams finished in 12
th place in their respective races.

"Our region is one of the most competitive regions in the nation, by far," said coach Brian Medigovich. "To have both of our programs, especially a young ladies team, place in the top half in the region showed large improvement from last year and I know we're heading in a good direction."

In the men's 10K,
Matt Parker was the first Yellow Jacket to cross the finish line after he clocked out with a 32:38.40 final time to place 58th.
Britton Elkin finished next as he placed 61
st after completing the race at 33:08.30.

Lincoln Fleischman and
Hayden Grosz both finished the race in 33:23.6 to place 66
th and 67
th, respectively. Fleischman shaved 1.9 seconds off his personal best 10K time, which he clocked at last year's regionals meet.

Senior runner
Keith Osowski finished in 70
th after completing the 10K in 33:33.10 while Mason Swingholm rounded out the Yellow Jackets with a 34:00.10 finish to place 82
nd. In all, the Men's 6K had 24 teams compete that included 164 runners.

The Yellow Jacket women's team saw
Xiomara Robinson cross the finish line first after running a 22:21.80 6K that placed her in 26
th.
Sylvia Brown followed suit as she placed 31
st, clocking out at 22:35.00. Brown's time, a new personal best mark for the sophomore, bested her 6K time from both this year's RMAC championship run as well as last year's regional meet.

Elizabeth Farris crossed the line next for BHSU as she ran 87
th in 24:34.50 while Katie Turpin ran a 24:44.0 time that placed her in 87
th. Evie Boyd was the last Yellow Jacket to punch out for BHSU as she finished 141
st after completing the race in 26:35.80.

The women's race included 24 teams in total with 167 runners who competed in the 6K.
