Makaleb McInnis

Makaleb McInnis joined the Yellow Jackets as an Assistant Coach in May of 2022. In 2025, McInnis was promoted to Associate Head Coach. McInnis is heavily involved in all areas of the program and serves as the program’s recruiting director. Prior to BHSU, McInnis served as a graduate assistant coach at Augustana University (SD) from 2020 to 2022 under head coach, Tom Billeter. During his time with the Vikings, they went 35-11, qualified for the NCAA DII National Tournament and defeated five ranked opponents. In 2022, Augustana won the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Regular Season Championship in McInnis’ last season in Sioux Falls.

McInnis played professionally for the Falkirk Fury in the Scottish Basketball Championship League during the 2019-20 season.

He finished his collegiate career at BHSU where he spent two years as a student-athlete, starting 28 games his senior year and averaging over 10 points and 3 rebounds per game. BHSU finished 13th in the RMAC the year before McInnis joined the Yellow Jackets (2016-17). By his senior year, the team captain helped lead the squad to a fourth-place finish in the RMAC and an appearance in the program’s first-ever RMAC Tournament championship game. Before arriving to BHSU, McInnis played two seasons at Pierce College in Lakewood, WA where he was a team captain and First Team All-League his sophomore season. McInnis earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from BHSU and a master’s degree in sports administration and leadership from Augustana.
