Black Hills State football and Head Coach Josh Breske added six more to its 2023 signing class on Thursday.

The six additions bump the number of 2023 Yellow Jacket signees from California to 23, and increases the count of defensive linemen to 11, defensive backs and linebackers each to eight, offensive linemen to seven and tight ends to four.

Talon Beltran – DL, San Diego, Calif., Mater Dei Catholic H.S.
Senior year played defensive end and right tackle while helping Mater Dei Catholic High School to a state championship … earned All-League First Team and All-CIF First Team … played in the Makasi Bowl and earned All-Mesa League First Team.

Adrien Chargualaf – DB, Spring Valley, Calif., Lincoln H.S.
Tallied 69 total tackles as a senior, including 57 solos, 12 assists, a sack and two forced fumbles … named All-CIF Team in both junior and senior seasons … named Grossmont All-League as well as Defensive MVP … won a state championship against Del la Salle.

Samuel Cooper – DL, San Diego, Calif., University City H.S.
Totaled 36 games at University City High School with 54 passing touchdowns and 40 rushing touchdowns … as a passer he completed 270 of 433 attempts for 4,553 yards … on the ground he tallied 2,464 rushing yards on 391 carries … was team captain in both junior and senior years … named All Conference All-Around Player … Second Team Defense.

Sy Fanua – LB, San Diego, Calif., Mira Mesa H.S.
At Mira Mesa High School, recorded 127 total tackles and 86 solos … tallied four sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries … in 2023 was named Defensive Captain and First Team All-League.

Thys Van Der Hoek – TE, Ripon, Calif., Ripon Christian H.S.
Played 13 games as a senior, totaling 13 receptions for 192 yards and five touchdowns … averaged 14.8 yards per catch … First Team All-League Tight End in both Junior and Senior seasons … helped his team to sections game win … also played in NorCal game.

Jimmy Walls – OL, Pittsburg, Calif., Pittsburg H.S.
Helped lead the Pittsburg High School offensive line as a team captain … senior year played in the State Championship game in Los Angeles, Calif. … earned First Team All-League and Outstanding Lineman of the Year.
