Black Hills State University Athletics

The 1964-65 men’s basketball team compiled a 17-7 record and were co-champions of the South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference. The Yellow Jackets bid for a trip to the national tournament fell short losing in the District 12 playoff game to Valley City. Team members included Doug Stanford, Cliff Hanson, Wayne Ward, Ken Knapp, Rich Lunderman, Frank Ward, Skip Larson, Ken Alsop, Terry Swindell, Terry Rypkema and the late Bill Kohn, Oliver Carter and Tony Monaco. The Yellow Jackets were coached by Thurman Wright.
